EIT Manufacturing (EITM), Europe’s largest network for innovation in the manufacturing industry, regularly organizes competitions and actively solicits proposals to fund the development of innovative ideas in the manufacturing sector.

The RIS Leaders Competition

Once again, the RIS Leaders competition aims to recognise and support women innovators from countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria, by providing training and monetary prizes for the creation and development of advanced technology solutions for the manufacturing sector.

Women entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in the areas of accelerated digital technology deployment, circular economy and decarbonisation in manufacturing, improved working environment, industrial transformation, etc. can apply until 15.07.2024 on the EIT Manufacturing – RIS Leaders 2024 website.  Sixty applicants will be selected to access online training from international experts in the entrepreneurial field. The six most distinguished ladies will be invited to the official award ceremony in November in Budapest, where the winners will also be announced.

In addition to access to an international network and training, the ladies will have the opportunity to compete for prizes of between €5,000 and €10,000.

EITM open calls for proposals

EIT Manufacturing, has launched calls for proposals to fund the development of innovative ideas in the manufacturing sector that will transform industry. A total of €11 million is available to fund projects.

These calls for proposals are an opportunity for stakeholders to submit project ideas that align with the strategic objectives of EIT Manufacturing and are focused on innovation, education, regional innovation and the development of Masters and PhD school programmes. 

The calls will fund innovation projects in two main areas:

  • Innovative solutions to industrial challenges – seeking creative and effective solutions to existing problems in industry
  • Transition to sustainable and human-centred production – projects that focus on environmental sustainability and the human factor are encouraged.

Additional project funding opportunities of €2 million are also foreseen for Central and Eastern European countries, including Bulgaria, which fall under the so-called Regional Innovation Scheme:

  • Developing innovations: Advanced materials and production processes that are key to the dual environmental and digital transition and industrial competitiveness.
  • Up-skilling and re-skilling the manufacturing workforce in EIT RIS countries: Establishing training programmes to up-skill and re-skill the workforce and cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
