Today is the official opening of the first system for shared use of electric bicycles in Sofia – Sofia Urban Challenge
The Mayor of Sofia Municipality, Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova, officially launched the Sofia Urban Challenge, the first system for shared use of electric bicycles.
The initiative is organized by Cleantech Bulgaria and Green Sofia under a project funded by Climate-KIC and includes a wide range of partners. The solution and implementation of the system is conducted by the startup company ElJoy Bikes, which is also part of the Cleantech Bulgaria and Climate-KIC Acceleration Program.
During the opening, Roo Brands provided raw bio-desserts and Zagorka AD presented one of its summer soft drinks – Ariana Radler 0.0%.
The oldest natural park in the Balkans – Vitosha Park is the first location where anyone can benefit from the new service.
The aim of the project is to stimulate a shift in the attitudes of Bulgarians towards the transition to ecological and healthy methods of transportation, reducing the car traffic towards Vitosha, as well as testing the needs and attitudes of the users towards the system itself.
The project is a pilot project aimed at understanding and testing the attitudes and needs of people, as well as the opportunities for developing the system itself. The vision of the partners responsible for Sofia Urban Challenge is growth both in Sofia and other cities, with the opportunity to build a bicycle connection between them.
The users of the service will have the opportunity to devote themselves to a new type of mountain experience and to appreciate nature while participating in sports activities with pleasure. The service is for everyone who wants to try. Reservations of electric bikes will take place through a specially created application.
