Cleantech Bulgaria Foundation and the Municipality of Kardzhali organized the first Circular Minds project meeting, financed by the Interreg Europe program, on September 30, 2024, in the town of Kardzhali. Representatives of the local administration, business and university affiliates attended the event.
Attendees learned about the Circular Minds project aiming to support the development of circular public procurement policies in nine European regions. In Bulgaria, the project will focus on introduction of the circular economy principles in the organization and implementation of public procurement in active partnership with the Municipality of Kardzhali.
During the meeting, a variety of topics were covered: the circular economy principles, the possibilities for their introduction, the potential benefits and results for business and society, good examples from Bulgaria and Europe, as well as circular public procurement principles and their importance in green and digital transition implementation.
In the four-year period of the project, seven more stakeholder meetings will be held to identify the steps that most successfully will lead to the desired change of introducing the principles of the circular economy in the Municipality of Kardzhali.
Cleantech Bulgaria and the Municipality of Kardzhali are partners in the Circular Minds project, together with local authorities and regional organizations from the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Finland, Sweden, Albania.
